Marie-Ghislaine BEAUCE
Born in France in 1951, Marie-Ghislaine BEAUCÉ studied subjects such as life drawing, sculpture, Arts history, interior design, painting and was involved in personal creative projects at Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Nantes, greatly influence by the Bauhaus design; for this reason her work is base on abstraction; She was then inspired by the Catalan textile artist Grau-Garriga after visiting one of his exhibitions of tapestries and dedicated her research to creating designs intended for her textile art. Leaving in London since the late 1980s she has a background of technician and colour consultant in interior design; she also has been a member of the Phoenix Contemporary Textile Group since 2016; she participated in a number of international exhibitions. „Colours play a very important role in my life; I cannot imagine a world without them and I could not live in a completely white interior environment. In layering the same abstract shapes in subtil fading colours, the aim was to achieve a slight impression of depth or relief to the ensemble to offset the strong top design; the blurred details seek the creation of a broad and mysterious space; the skilfulness in balancing random strikes and orderly shapes in relations with each other, the tangle of dark strong and light colours are aiming to create a colourful visual optical effect“.
