Chenyao He (Eva), born in 2001 in Shenzhen, China, currently studies at The Cooper Union in
New York. Her discipline includes but is not limited to largescale installations, performance art,
and moving images. She predominantly realizes her ideas through the media of plastic foam,
wood, plastic, 3D printing, metal processing, etc.
In Chenyao’s work, themes are self-explanatory and based on shared knowledge.
Interpretation is open to the audience. She has always been interested in exploring the
relationship between art and the environment in which it is presented. Her works often take the
form of interactive installations that encourage viewer engagement with their surroundings,
blurring the boundaries between the artwork and the exhibition space. She constantly seeks
new ways to challenge the audience’s perception of space and time and create experiences
that evoke emotional and intellectual responses. Eva believes what the audience feel is
authentic. Verbosity is unnecessary.
